Look at these beautiful blues on baby Madelyn! Who says a newborn needs to be asleep for the perfect shot? Madelyn did have some sleepy photos as well, and we were able to do the ever-popular Froggy Pose. Loving the muted colors in this session: Sage Blue, Lavender and Ivory.
Morgan was in the studio with her big sister in February for a Milestone session! We love her vintage look in this first photo, with these creamy neutrals and dark wood backdrop. The burlap gives the photo another layer of texture. Her yellow dress and matching headband in the next set of photos gives the perfect pop of color against the ivory backdrops. Big Sister’s outfit ties in with a cute yellow bow as well!
Bishop and Boston had their final session of Baby’s First Year, the Cake Smash! We have enjoyed watching them grow and capturing their milestones!
This cutie was a sweetheart for her Valentine’s Session in the studio!
RAMPS - Ramp Access Made Possible by Students - was our charity of choice for our February Benefit Sessions. What started as a challenge by three area high-schoolers to contribute to their community, RAMPS has since installed nearly 400 wheelchair ramps for the disabled and elderly, involving 27 high schools and over 1000 students. For these benefit sessions, 11 Sixteen Photography raised over $1000, which was enough to install TWO wheelchair ramps! (The students raise $500 per ramp, and the organization covers the remaining costs.)
Below you will first find a few snapshots of one of the wheelchair ramps installations, made possible from funds raised by you guys! Keep scrolling to see some adorable photos from each of our RAMPS Benefit Sessions.
Before/After:
And here is a before/after shot!
We had a model call in January for Ayla James, a top children’s boutique in RVA. This adorable baseball outfit is perfect to kick off the season!
Remember that gorgeous Maternity Session we shot of the Say family in the Fall? Well, baby boy Leo made his debut in January! Leo is so handsome in shades of Oatmeal and Midnight Blue.
Look at this sweet little angel! We love this photo from Marlowe’s First Birthday and Cake Smash Session. After cake, we usually clean up and change into some fresh clothes for a few more shots. This one did not disappoint! Scroll down to see a few more clean shots, and then the cake smash photos!
Abbott was snoozing soundly in this tiny bed at his Newborn Session in January. Gray and Ivory were the colors of the day for this photo collection. When deciding on colors for your session, we always recommend that you consider the colors in the room you will be displaying your photographs. Want to hang a canvas in the nursery? Be sure your chosen session colors will complement the rest of the nursery decor.
Sweet Harmony! This beautiful baby girl looks like a Snow Princess in her floral cream dress and woodsy winter backdrop. These neutral shades with pops of shimmery gold give this session a Regal feel. Miss Harmony has the sweetest smile and looks so relaxed for her session. I have a feeling her personality matches her namesake!
Colin was a happy, smiley baby for his 6 month session! Neutral shades of gray and ivory with pops of red give Colin’s photo collection a cohesive look. With this age group, it’s always fun to stick them in a container of some sort! Not only does it make for adorable photos, but its a new and fun experience for them and usually elicits some sweet baby smiles. Here we used a rustic tub, a white wooden crate, and a wicker basket.
The Hall Family had a fun session in the studio this winter! With Mom and the boys in ivory, gray and denim against an Ivory backdrop, Kelly produced some bright and classic family photos.
Our Worthdays Benefit Sessions held in January were open to Newborns and Babies up to 12 months old. Worthdays is a non-profit founded by Caroline Neal, which aims to ensure that all children in the foster system feel important, worthy and celebrated, especially on their birthday.
Kelly kept these sessions simple with shades of brown for the backdrop and props, and ivory outfits for the babies. Some parents opted to bring their own outfits, and that’s just fine, too! Scroll down to see some cuteness overload in the images below!
The Worthdays Benefit Sessions brought in over $1000 in donations! If you’d still like to contribute to this cause please go to https://www.worthdays.org to see how you can help.
In January, 11 Sixteen Photography hosted Benefit Sessions to benefit the non-profit Worthdays. Caroline Neal is the Founder and Executive Director at Worthdays. A former social worker, Caroline knew firsthand how difficult the Foster System could be on children, and had a vision to make them feel worthy, especially on their birthdays. “Worthdays vision is to ensure that those impacted by the Foster Care system know that they are important, worthy and celebrated.” We are so proud to support and bring awareness to this cause. Every child deserves to be celebrated on their birthday.
Tomorrow, look for a blog post with a collection of our Benefit Sessions for Worthdays!
What better time than the Holidays to get the whole family together for a photo op? The Willis Family did just that this past Christmas and snagged some beautiful photos, including a few maternity shots!
Two year old Matty came in for a Milestone Session in late October and brought some of his favorite toys along! How sweet is he cuddling his teddy bear?
James came to the studio in December for Part 3 of the Baby’s First Year Program - the ever-popular Cake Smash Session! By taking advantage of this program, we were able to capture his most important first year milestones and provide Mom & Dad with a beautiful Keepsake 10”x10” album of all three photo sessions. They also received one 16”x20” canvas for each session plus print credits!
These parents-to-be met up with Denise for a lovely December maternity session!

The Massenburg Family’s session in Maymont was just beautiful. Despite it being early December, there were still some colorful leaves on the trees, which made for amazing photos. Haven clearly had the best time and had all the smiles for the camera!
The Ward Family chose Navy, Burgundy, Gray and Denim for their Fall Mini Session with Denise, and it looks amazing against this red barn. Dad’s plaid shirt brings the look together, while Mom’s solid top gives that pop of color!
