Evan’s senior session is a perfect example of why I love outdoor senior pictures in Richmond, Virginia. A beautiful location, simple wardrobe choices, and a relaxed approach are sometimes all you need to create senior portraits that feel natural and genuinely reflect who someone is.

For Evan’s session, we photographed at one of 11 Sixteen Photography’s private outdoor locations—our lake property. With water, trees, a dock, bridge, and plenty of greenery, this location gives us a surprising amount of variety without having to travel from place to place.

And for senior guys especially, I love that it feels comfortable and unfussy. Nothing overly staged—just really great portraits in a beautiful setting.

Senior pictures don’t have to feel awkward. In fact, one of my biggest goals as a Richmond senior photographer is making the experience easy, particularly for seniors who may not exactly be counting down the days until their photo session. 😉

Evan kept his wardrobe classic and casual, which worked perfectly with the natural setting. We moved around the property, changed backgrounds, and kept posing relaxed so his finished gallery still looked polished without feeling overly posed.

That balance is exactly what I want from a senior session: photographs parents will love, but images that still feel like the senior.
